The Team


Curtis has been the Director of Education at Pixel Blue College for more than ten years.  His mission is to assist students with their registration, financing, and coach them throughout their program.  With a positive attitude and personalized attention, Curtis ensures that students feel part of the Pixel Blue College family and able to excel in their chosen program. Curtis graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and has an MBA from Simon Fraser University. 


Greg is instructor of Pixel Blue College 3D Animation and Modelling program. After completing  a Visual Communications Design Diploma at Grant MacEwan College, Greg joined the Pixel Blue College family, first by attending the 3D Animation program, then becoming the instructor. He has been involved in commercial work and public television advertising campaigns by providing his expertise in 3D animation and special effects.  Greg has worked on productions for Discovery Channel, Epcor, Wavefront and several other international and local companies.


Julian is an experienced designer and has worked as an educator with Tec de Monterrey in Mexico City. He has taught at the University of Alberta and has obtained his Masters is Visual Arts. As a graduate of Pixel Blue College Design program, an active designer and painter, he brings a wealth of experience to the classroom.


Umesh’s professional audio engineering experience has given him the opportunity to work in some of the top recording studios in Canada.  His work in both Analog and Digital mediums has given him extensive experience that he is able to bring to the classroom everyday. Umesh has worked, and continues to work, in the music, television and film industries. He is a full member of the Audio Engineering Society and Member of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts & Science, making him a voting member for the Juno’s.  Umesh is an active composer represented by ASCAP and SOCAN.


Kevin is a graduate of Pixel Blue College in both 3D Animation & Modeling and Design & Motion Graphics diploma programs. His work outside of the college [morealbatross.com] , as a freelance graphic designer and 2D animator, allows him to bring these real world skills and experiences to the classroom and to the students he meets each day.


Grant has been involved in the graphic design and production field for nearly 20 years. His experience covers textile printing, large format printing, prepress, sign-making, advertising, marketing, brand identity and postproduction art. After 3 years in education, Grant moved into advertising, serving as the design director at Calder Bateman, amassing over 40 awards in studio art and design. As an educator, he has developed and taught nearly 20 curriculums that span typography design to semiotics and wayfinding systems. 

As an internationally published identity designer, Grant spends his time building the profile of his creative boutique.


David Woods, President and Founder of Solidhouse, is an accomplished independent contractor and .NET developer specializing in enterprise applications and enterprise level projects aimed at meeting the unique needs and business requirements of a broad spectrum of clients. He is an advocate of good OO skills and patterns, and is particularly passionate about security solutions and best practices. Dave holds the designation of Microsoft Security MVP, one of only three professionals in Canada to hold this distinction. He has been developing and programming applications since he was a kid, working his way from BASIC (and still has his Apple II to prove it) to .NET.

Giap Vo, pronounced Yap Vo, is Pixel Blue College’s resident jack of all 3D trades. He thrives on learning new techniques and processes, which he loves to share with students.  He is a research machine and specializes in 3D modeling and animation using Autodesk’s Maya.  He is a graduate from the Pixel Blue College 3D Modeling and Animation diploma program and has worked as both a contractor and instructor with the studio.  Besides Maya, Giap has worked with other applications such as ZBrush, After Effect, and PFtrach and he keeps adding others.  


Dan comes to us after studying in Pixel Blue College’s Digital Audio Production program taught by Umesh.  Dan has been doing work mixing and mastering tracks for a variety of independent artists from across the continent.
